Welcome to Kaya Mawa! Voted one of the most romantic places on earth. Its location on Likoma Island on Lake Malawi and its small scale make this place unique and special. The island is covered with mango and old baobab trees and surrounded by beautiful golden sand beaches and rocky bays. The Kaya Mawa Lodge is located in one of the small bays.
All ten, thatched, chalets are fantastically located and decorated in harmony with the surroundings. Some even have their own plunge pools. Chalet Makengulu is secretly my favorite. The wooden walkway leads to a private island where, surrounded by bougainvillea and with a spectacular view, it’s a very good place to be. If you are traveling with children or a group of friends, stay in the larger chalets or the beautiful Ndomo House which has no less than four bedrooms!
With a good book on a lovely lounger on the beach or by the pool, which is located on top of a rock? Or rather discover the underwater world? Water sports instructors are at your disposal here. Diving and snorkeling in the emerald green crystal clear water provide many “wow” moments. Especially when a beautiful color palette of fish passes by.
Kite surfing and water skiing are also popular sports to practice here. Fancy a cultural afternoon? Walk or bike to the nearby village and enjoy a local soccer match or visit the beautiful cathedral and the colorful market.
You will experience total relaxation during a professional massage or facial in the Spa, of course also breathtakingly located. The bar is the place to be at the end of the day! Here you can enjoy the big cushions, with a drink in your hand and a beautiful sunset. Later, dinner will be served in style! Under the stars and in an idyllic spot on the beach!
