Understated beauty!
Amanpuri was the first hotel opened by Adrian Zecha, founder of the world-renowned Aman hotel chain. Built on a coconut plantation in the pristine north of Phuket, on the quiet and beautiful sandy beach of Surin Beach.
The special experience, during my stay at Amanpuri, is difficult to put into words. A stay here has nothing to do with the hectic life in “the other” Phuket. Here I experience a wealth of serene tranquility. There is an atmosphere and understated beauty that you actually find in all of Aman’s unique hotels.
The Amanpuri Resort is located high on a cliff, in a pristine part of the island of Phuket. The backdrop of the palm-covered hills, on this idyllic bay of the Andaman Sea, is impressive. A wide staircase allows you to descend to the beach where The Beach Club is located, beautifully built among the large rocks. At a beautiful sunset, with a cool cocktail in your hand, you can enjoy the afterglow of the day here.
At this location you will find 40 luxurious pavilions and villas with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, which offer you a choice between a view of the sea or the gardens. Here too, everything is just right; the modern Thai interior, complete with wooden floors and long curtains of Thai silk. I find a large vase with the freshest, white, fragrant orchids I have ever seen in my bathroom.
Of course, there is no spa missing from this top Thai hotel. The Amanpuri Resort has an outstanding Spa with no less than six treatment rooms housed in pavilions. On the menu you will find traditional treatments such as facials, body wraps and scrubs as well as healing therapy. One uses essential oils and creams, made from the purest ingredients.
At Amanpuri Resort, dining is a special affair and therefore there are several excellent restaurants. The Terrace serves Thai and European dishes. At The Restaurant you eat excellent Italian and at Naoki you can enjoy Japanese and French cuisine.
In short: Let Aman in Thailand surprise you!
